Friday: Summer Plans; Date a Younger Guy; Good Youtubers?

Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a good week and enjoy the weekend! Here are some of my quick thoughts on dealing with somethings and some of my suggestions.

What should I do about this summer?
My dream job is to be a journalist. At school i was taking a journalism 1 class. When school starts again in the fall I'm going to actually be on the newspaper staff. I am going to be an online columnist. A lot of people want to be columnists but not everyone can be a columnist. I think the journalism teacher really likes me. He keeps telling me how good my writing is. I am looking forward to having him as a teacher again next year.
There are summer workshops for people on newspaper staff next year. The workshops are at a college and we stay there for I think five days and four nights. The workshops are required for the students who are going to be editors but they're optional for other staff members. The workshops are recommended for several positions on staff. The summer workshop is a great opportunity. It's a chance to work with the other student journalists and to learn more about journalism. There are even opportunities to apply for scholarships.
Both of my parents have looked at the paper about the workshop and agree it would be good for me. The problem: the workshop dates are the same time as one of the two weeks Dad has planned for a vacation to Paris.
Dad, my sister, our aunt, our cousin, and I are going to Paris. From the time we first started planning the Paris trip the two weeks were the only time my aunt could get off work for a vacation. I never thought there was any chance of ever going on vacation to Paris. I have ALWAYS dreamed of going to Paris. Now everything is pretty much worked out. We just need to buy the plane tickets then everything is set in stone.
I won't get another chance at the summer workshop. I'm going to be a senior in August. Next summer I won't be in high school anymore.
Should I give up my dream vacation for an opportunity that could help me toward my dream job or give up the opportunity for my dream vacation? Or should I try to work out going to the workshop then meet up with everyone in Paris the second week?

Dear Anonymous,
They are both amazing opportunities. But remember as a journalist, you never know where your job might take you so you could possibly end up in Paris one day. It all depends on what you want to do now. 

My Guys: Wesley

Wesley has been in my life for sometime now, since 8th grade, I met him the same time I met Christopher. Wes is one of those guys that always seems to have a girlfriend, he'll be friendly/flirty with other girls but he is no doubt faithful to his girlfriend.
Wes is a great guy, always knows how to put a smile on your face. He gives the best hugs and always smells good. He's one of the guys I go to when I need a hug.

That Song in Your Head All Day

Everyday I wake up with a song in my head that seems to last all day and I can't help singing it. Now, I'm no professional singer, I'm not the best and I know that but I love singing anyway. Some songs that get stuck in my head are songs that aren't heard on the radio as much anymore. For example, I, almost always, have All Out of Love by Air Supply stuck in my head. I sing it out loud so much that my mom claims that's my theme song. Of course I always respond with "Thanks Mom." If you have never heard of this song or Air Supply, I feel so sorry for you. Or maybe I feel sorry for myself for being so old. I mean I'm not that old, I'm 21 and will be 22 in October. But this is such a classic ballad, I love it.

Just relax and go on the date with an open mind. If you just go with the flow, it could probably be really fun and he could actually surprise you in the long run.

My Guys: Chris Hughes

Christopher Hughes is a popular name so it's not like any of you will know which Chris Hughes I'm talking about plus I will not be posting any pictures of him because I don't have any current ones of him.
Chris and I met in the eighth grade. He dated one of my best friends, Tawnee, for a little while and he was also in my math class. People thought we should date but we never did. Chris and I love each other though and unexpectedly we became close friends. Over the years, he's come to me for advice and I have come to him as well for advice. Most of all Chris has been one of the few guys that has said he would be there and actually was/is there when I need him.

Ashley Rules

There are some rules I live by, how I became the person I am today and how I deal with things in my life. I was a little inspired by Gibbs, yes from NCIS, he has his own set of rules and so do I. 
Here are some of my rules.
Rule One:

Happy thoughts and positive thinking starts the day off right, most of the time.
Rule Two:
Think Like Blair Waldorf.
Rule Three:
Don't second guess yourself.
Rule Five:
Relax.
Rule Five:
Have guy friends you can comfortably talk with. 

That First Kiss with Someone New

That first kiss should give you butterflies, right? But that first kiss with someone new, that can either go well or not so well. Even if it doesn't go as swell as you were expecting those butterflies can still exist. But then it can be really awkward after and you're unsure if you should kiss again even though you feel like you just want to keep kissing. Or you look back on the kiss and it makes your heart skip a beat.
When you kiss someone new for the first time, it's hard to know what they're really expecting so of course it's not going always going to be perfect and magical as you imagine it to be.

Friday: Losing the Spark; Friend to More; He Just Keeps on Flirting

Today was a beautiful day and apart from my Micro Econ Test in the morning, I hope the weekend will be beautiful as well. Celebrate the weekend doing something nice for your mother, grandmother, or any motherly figure in your life. Happy Friday!

There are a number of things you can do and sometimes it the little things that help. Like recreating your first date. Leaving sweet notes to each other for the other to find. Just remind each other why you're together to begin with because sometimes that gets lost when you've been together for a while. 

My Guys: Dan Man

In an earlier post, I said I was going to continue with My Guys and start a new "chapter" on the guys from college, however I lied and I'm not done with high school. ;) I believe I have a couple more guys to go before I start with college guys.
Daniel, or Dan Man or Kuya as I call him, has been in my life for sometime now. It was fate that brought us together. Actually, it was having the same last name but we're not at all related but I call him my brother and his family has become another family. I'm invited to family parties and all that other good stuff. He's really a great brother and he also has two younger brothers that I call my brothers as well.

Questionable Friendship

What to do when someone hangs on to something that happened years ago?
Austin and I have been friends since our freshman year in high school and soon it will be our Friendaversary. When we first became friends, I liked him and we would write notes to each other because this was way before texting became unlimited and all that other stuff. We were old school and got to know a person over notes and not text. We were able to give them to each other face to face and all that. Our notes were really in depth and we started to like each other but he never did anything about it and being brought up the way I was, guys are "suppose" to make the move first. I'm an old fashion girl to be honest.

Cinco De Mayo

Over the weekend, I experienced my first Cinco De Mayo as a 21 year old. Now before you think, oh my goodness she must have been totally wasted, it wasn't like that at all. I have yet to give into the peer pressure of drinking and by the I mean people telling me to drink when I really don't want to. I understand how peer pressure can be and even if you seem like a wuss in front of your friends just because you don't drink then so be it. You don't have to do anything you're not comfortable doing just remember that when you go out with your friends or when you're dating a boy or girl you like. Don't let pressure get the best of you or as they say "Live Above the Influence." I however had a couple drinks just because I am a social drinker and of course of legal age. I mean hell, I didn't even drink when I was playing beer pong instead I let me beer pong partner do the drinking for me. Even though I was like the only one who drank the least I should say, I still had some fun with my sisters and their friends.
